In the early and mid-nineties, Gary, Indiana, was a city plagued with drugs and had one of the highest murder rates per capita in the nation. A native of that city, Alex Richardson, a young dedicated patrolman, is asked to join a group of veteran detectives. This has been his dream, to be a cop—to be a detective. He soon learns about the streets and the choices that force dedicated cops over the edge—all in the name of good. He finds that sometimes it is dangerous on both sides of the line, and he will take you on that journey as he crosses that line in this novel—Lines Crossed.

You are taken deep inside the inner-workings of a narcotics unit and their procedures from working with informants, to the undercover, and the arrest. Also shown is the corruption by the police and prosecutors. Richardson incorporates his personal life and how it is affected by his undercover work to make this a shocking and enjoyable fast-paced read.

This is a poignant tale with a lesson for everyone—the police officer, the hustler and the common citizen.

At the age of 25, Alex Richardson was promoted to the rank of detective assigned to the Lake County Drug Task Force. Prior to his appointment, Richardson was assigned to the patrol division. Before that he spent four years in the Army as a military policeman and also a paratrooper in a Special Operations unit at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

This book was pretty good.Being a undercover cop or even a cop in a patrol car..temptations will always confront you.Life is about choices right or wrong.I'm sure there are cops who got away with taking a few bucks here and there, but when you have people who love you,and depend on you,you have to take that in consideration.Alex Richardson seem to have spent his time incarcerated very well.He seem to have learned from his mistakes, and now he's a best selling author. It's refreshing to see someone come out of prison and make a positive path for himself/herself instead of recycling themselves back to prison.Alex Richardson I am a fan of your books(especially The Corner Series)and I am a fan of you as a person.May God continue to bless you.You are a inspiration.

Great read, I was shocked to find out how it really works.
some police officers are as bad as the crimials and it goes all the
way to the top. Good luck Mr. Richardson
Lines Crossed by Alex Richardson is the true story of a man of the law who crosses the line of the pledge he made to uphold the law. Hailing from Gary, Indiana, Detective Alex Richardson has just been promoted to Detective from being a patrolman. Alex was the type of cop that did everything by the book and was totally dedicated to his job. When he got the promotion he soon saw that the department he worked in did not do things by the book, they ran the show the way they saw fit.

Alex worked as an undercover agent in the narcotics division. His job was to buy a large quantity of drugs a few times from known drug dealers and get them to flip on the person they got their drugs from, so a bigger bust could be made. Not only making Alex look good but the department too. With some of the drug raids Alex and some of his fellow detectives go on, he begins to notice not all the money that is seized during these raids are turned in. Valuable items within some of the houses are taken out of the house but not logged in as items seized from the bust. Therefore, it was up for grabs by some of the other agents. That is just some of the things Alex noticed when he first came into his new position. Alex just rolled with how his department was ran. Deep down he knew what they were doing was not right. As time went by, Alex started thinking if some of the others are getting a piece of the pie in the raids, then he might as well too. What started out as taking money here and there turned into something on a higher level to cushion his pockets and to support his gambling addiction. The problem is Alex does not know when to stop. The consequences if he is caught can either land him in prison or kill him. Will Alex be able to stop before it is too late?

Lines Crossed by Alex Richardson is his true story about being a detective in the narcotics unit. His brutal honesty about some of the things his department got away with and the things he did are to be commended since he came out and wrote the truth. I have to wonder if anyone in his department at that time has taken the time to read it. I am sure it would cause a lot of controversy. But I digress, there was not a lot of action or a lot of suspense, the story was told in first person and it was just stated as facts. A little cut and dry. There are gaps within the story that makes the reader wonder what led up to certain points. There wasn't much of a timeline. Years just quickly passed by. The story lacked in detail to the personal things that Mr. Richardson had going on. All-in-all I this was an okay read.

Excellent read! I felt like I was right there watching everything as it unfolded. I would love to see this on film.
In desperate need of an editor.
I thought this book was very interesting especially about the things that go on in the undercover world of police. Alex really laid it on the line about just what he indured and overcame his situation and paid his dues...
Story of a young officer that finds himself caught up in the exciting responsibilities of being a member of the Drug Task Force along with the illegal activities they participate in. Interesting details on how snitches become CI's.

Lines were definitely crossed.
